The mission of Overflow Foundation is to Pour Hope Into Life by promoting mental health awareness and suicide prevention, as well as providing mental health education.
Overflow Foundation was founded in 2019 by a mother who was grieving the loss of her oldest son. Following a dual diagnosis of substance use disorder (SUD) and bipolar disorder (BPD), her son succumbed to severe depression and died by suicide on September 6, 2018. Noting the rise in suicide rates by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) and the National Council for Behavioral Health, Overflow Foundation desires to join the fight against suicide by infusing hope into the lives of individuals and families who have been affected by suicide, mental illness, and SUDs.
Leadership of Overflow Foundation:
Terry Lee, Founder and Executive Director – Terry is a pastor’s wife, nurse, and mother of five children. After graduating from Clemson University in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, Terry has acquired over thirty-five years of experience in clinical bedside nursing, as well as quality outcomes management and regulatory compliance preparedness. She was awarded “Excellence in the Practice of Hospital Nursing” by the South Carolina Hospital Association and was recognized for “Best Practice” in the conduction of clinical case review as a root cause analyst. Her passion in nursing is service excellence and quality improvement in the overall delivery of holistic compassionate care, striving to address the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient.
As a pastor’s wife, Terry serves along-side her husband, Phillip, who is the Senior Pastor of Cedar Creek Church (CCC) in Aiken, South Carolina. Together, Phillip and Terry strive to uphold the mission of the church by helping lost, broken and hurting people find their way back to God. The work of Overflow Foundation, as well as the work of CCC, intersect and compliment one another in the overall mission to reach lost and hurting people and give them new and continued hope through a personal relationship with Jesus.
Phillip and Terry are also the proud parents of five precious children and have one beautiful granddaughter. They consider these their greatest earthly treasure.
Terry is available as a keynote speaker for your next church, school, or civic event. She shares a message of hope with passion and conviction. She is also available as a motivational speaker, promoting mental health, suicide prevention, and living with/recovery from substance use disorder.
