Lisa Murphy
For over 30 years Lisa Murphy has been giving of herself to the community. Through her life’s many challenges – her husband’s military deployments, a son who survived cancer, and a loved one battling mental health illness, addiction, and living on the streets, she has learned to live by hope, faith, and the daily work required to move forward.
Currently Lisa serves on the Board of Directors, Aiken County Homeless Coalition, which was created to raise awareness of homelessness in Aiken County, SC. She is a trained facilitator for the National Alliance on Mental Illness where she co-facilitates an Aiken Family Support Group for families who have loved ones with mental illness. Her volunteer work with these organizations and with the Overflow Foundation serve to bring together the two difficult worlds of homelessness and mental illness.
Lisa is originally from Westchester County New York; she and her husband, Robert A. Murphy, have three grown children and four grandchildren.
